Job Summary: Seeking a Groundskeeper to provide support to maintain the landscape at various locations and for San Ysidro Land Port of Entry. Groundskeeper should have a minimum one-year experience lawn mower, trimming hedges, weed care, garden care and planting flowers, etc. Hands on work experience of lawn and ground equipment is required. Schedule: Monday thru Friday 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM Hourly Rate: $21.00/ Hr.

Location: 720 E San Ysidro Blvd, San Diego, CA 92173 San Ysidro Border (Land Port of Entry)

Essential Functions:

• Mows grass, edges walkway, pulls weeds (as necessary), waters lawn, trims shrubs, tends flower beds and regularly inspects assigned work areas to ensure proper standards are maintained.
• Operates lawn and ground equipment including self propelled lawn mowers, weed eaters, vacuums, blowers, hedge trimmers, chainsaws and other power equipment.
• Plants and maintains exterior and interior landscaping in accordance with the landscaping plan.
• Will assist in maintaining irrigation systems to properly water all landscape
• Will perform periodic maintenance on equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Requirements for Consideration:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) Year related experience and/ or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment, safety practices as related to Grounds keeping/ landscaping.
• Ability to read and understand service requests, container labels, product information, and directions on cleaning chemicals and other materials.
• Must be willing to undergo a NCIC-III background check (to include fingerprinting) that may take up to 6 - 8 Weeks and will require providing background information of 5 years or more; national & county criminal, employment, education, residency, & more. Any missed information or gaps is subject to disqualification.

Background check Requirements:

• State Driver's License or ID, Social Security Card as (second form of identification)
• Places/addresses you lived, past five years => name of someone who knows you to live there with their contact inform => that can confirm you at that address (relative, roommate, property manager etc.)
• Five years employ history => must account for any unemployment periods. Must know dates of employ, address, supervisor name and contact information. Reason for leaving employ.
• Name of last school attended, stating what High School. Name of school, address, years attended. Whether or not graduated or have GED
• For male applicants: selective service record
• Any military experience => Branch of service, separation date, type of discharge, correct dates
• Three references "people who know you well" Full name, address and contact phone number. How long have you known them?
• Any criminal records, Legal actions, parole information is disqualifies
• Any money owed to Federal Government => (unpaid taxes, student loans )

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum Experience Required: Must have knowledge of at least One (1) year experience working with various landscaping equipment, including, but no limited to lawn mowers, weeders, edgers, vacuum blowers, hedge trimmers and many other hand tools including shovels, rakes, hoses, shears, lopes, handsaws, and pole saws.

Skills Required: Must have experience in cleaning, maintenance and gardening methods, with materials and equipment. Must have knowledge of the operation of motorized and other equipment such as self propelled mowers, string trimmers, edgers and hedge trimmer. Must have knowledge of proper use of hand tools such as picks, rakes and shovels. Understand and follow oral instructions. Work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

The sign on Bonus of $3000 will be paid out every 3 months in the amount of $750/ Quarter over the first year
