Role and Responsibilities:

Part-Time Sound and Security personnel (unarmed) in support of the Self Defense Test Ship (SDTS) located at BAE Shipyard, San Diego, CA. Must be adaptable, flexible, willing and able to work, and be dependable.

Multiple shifts available (M-F or Weekends and Holidays).

Position Duties:

1. Perform shipboard internal/perimeter foot patrol rounds taking hourly equipment meter readings.
2. Perform shipboard security patrol to detect or prevent individuals from committing acts which are injurious to others or to property.
3. Notify supervisor in all emergency situations.
4. Maintain a highly visible presence observing and reporting all unusual activity. Investigate questionable acts or behavior observed or reported on the ship.
5. Ensure only authorized employees, shipyard vendors, or other appropriately identified persons are permitted shipboard access.
6. Respond to reports of injured personnel and notify supervisor/appropriate personnel if additional assistance is necessary.

Qualifications:

1. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
2. No criminal record, able to satisfactorily complete a background check.
3. Have a valid driver's license with their own transportation.
4. Able to follow Company policies and procedures.
5. Able to write, speak, and understand English and able to write clear, detailed reports.
6. Able to complete paperwork documenting meter readings and security observations, activities, and actions completed.

Preferred Skills:

1. Minimum Schooling: Graduate from high school.
2. Minimum Security Experience: 2 Years.

Physical Requirements:

1. Must be able to climb up and down the shipboard vertical ladders.
2. May be required to get underway to support mission operations.
3. Must be able to lift 50lbs.

PAY DETAILS: The hourly pay rate is $17.20 per hour. The “Graveyard” hours 11 PM-7 AM has a shift differential of $20 per hour. Plus, you receive an hourly Health and Welfare of $4.80 per hour, up to 40 hours per week or $192 per week or a maximum of $768.00 per month. In addition to Health and Welfare, you receive a Paid Time Off Payout and Holiday Payout based on the number of hours worked.
