Job Title: Mechanical Engineer (Medical Device Company)

Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid Schedule)

Contract Duration: 6 months (with potential extension to 1 year)

Pay Rate: $60-65/hour

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at a leading medical device company in San Diego. This is a 6-month contract position with the possibility of extension to 1 year. The successful candidate will work on a hybrid schedule, contributing to sustaining hardware work, quality improvements, end-of-life product enhancements, and CAPAs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sustaining Hardware Work:
  • Perform quality improvements, end-of-life product enhancements, and CAPAs.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement design changes (no new designs from scratch, only tweaks).
  • Collaborate with vendors to address quality issues and implement solutions.
  • Quality:
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Meet with vendors to discuss and resolve quality concerns.
  • Implement design changes to improve product quality.
  • End of Life:
  • Perform verification and validation (V&V) activities.
  • Implement product enhancements to extend product life.
  • Product Enhancements:
  • Implement new features and improvements to existing products.
  • CAPAs:
  • Address hardware-related corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
  • Documentation and Tools:
  • Utilize Microsoft Office Suite for documentation and reporting.
  • Use SAP for data management and tracking.
  • Apply SolidWorks for design modifications (experience in an educational setting is acceptable).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 4-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
  • Experience with SolidWorks (educational experience is acceptable).
  • Strong documentation and paperwork skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.
