PAYROLL SPECIALIST

JOB DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and process our company's payroll. The ideal candidate will ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll administration. This role requires strong analytical skills, knowledge of payroll regulations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

$33.00-$38.00 hourly. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualification for the role. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Process payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Process semimonthly payroll for both exempt and non-exempt employees in multiple states for approximately 400 employees.
  • Maintain accurate compensation data in the firm's payroll system (Paycom).
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including salaries, deductions, bonuses, and benefits.
  • Handle payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and resolve issues promptly.
  • Process and validate all payroll tax-related transactions, such as new hire state tax and SUI account registration and setup in the payroll system.
  • Stay abreast of legislative changes and industry trends related to compensation and benefits, ensuring the organization's programs remain compliant and competitive.
  • Partner with legal and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on compensation and benefits metrics.
  • Manage year-end reporting, including W-2, 401(k), and other tax filings.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee records and financial reporting.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • Relevant certification (e.g., Certified Compensation Professional) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with payroll software; Paycom experience is preferred.
  • Experience with a payroll size of 300+ employees.
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience processing payroll for employees in multiple states.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
