Position Overview

Applications are being accepted for the position of Assistant Professor of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heating discipline to teach HVAC/R courses at San Diego City College. The candidate selected for the position will start by August 2025, the beginning of the fall 2025 semester (2025-2026 academic year). City College is an urban campus dedicated to Social Justice, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The ideal candidate will possess the knowledge to support our diverse student populations inside and outside of the classroom.

Major Responsibilities

  • Teach college-level lecture and laboratory courses within the Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heating discipline courses and HVAC/R subject area.
  • Demonstrate evidence of expertise and training in the field of heating, ventilation, AC, and refrigeration.
  • Advise and assist students in education and career development.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty to plan, develop, implement, and assess courses in the air conditioning, refrigeration, heating discipline.
  • Maintain currency in the air conditioning, refrigeration, heating discipline, industry trends, and technology innovations.
  • Participate in departmental and faculty functions including program review and curriculum development.
  • Collaborate with industry and community organizations to meet labor market needs.
  • Participate in curriculum development and serve on relevant committees.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position must show evidence of one (1) of the following:

  • A Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and two (2) years of professional experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR,
  • An Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution and six (6) years of professional experience related to the subject of the course taught; OR,
  • The equivalent.

Conditions of Employment
