Position Overview:


We are seeking a skilled and hands-on Facilities & Maintenance Manager to lead all aspects of equipment maintenance, facility upkeep, and infrastructure management at our manufacturing site in Poway, CA. This role is critical to ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations, and plays a key part in supporting production by minimizing downtime and leading long-term improvement projects.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex issues involving HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, mechanical loops, machinery, etc.
  • Oversee facility-related installations and upgrades; ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and internal testing protocols.
  • Manage vendor and contractor relationships; solicit bids, negotiate contracts, and monitor quality of service.
  • Lead and train maintenance personnel; manage staffing, scheduling, performance, and development.
  • Maintain maintenance tracking systems (e.g., CMMS); log and report on work orders, inspections, and repair status.
  • Inspect facility infrastructure and systems to identify maintenance needs and support capital improvement planning.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, EHS guidelines, Affirmative Action/EEO policies, and company-specific safety policies.
  • Perform general facility upkeep as needed (e.g., basic carpentry, drywall, masonry, painting, light electrical/plumbing work).
  • Monitor utility consumption; recommend cost-saving opportunities and energy-efficient practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of experience in facility/equipment maintenance, with at least 5 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Lotus Notes experience a plus).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be physically able to lift heavy materials, climb ladders, and work in industrial environments.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, climb, stoop, and perform physical tasks in a manufacturing setting.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • May require working at heights or in confined spaces on occasion.
  • Occasional off-shift support may be required for emergency repairs or scheduled upgrades.
