Position Overview

We seek an experienced Transmission/Distribution Engineer to support wildfire mitigation projects in San Diego, California. This hybrid role involves designing, implementing, and managing transmission and distribution projects, combining technical expertise with leadership and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and engineering of wildfire mitigation transmission/distribution projects from conception to completion, managing budgets, schedules, and quality standards.
• Create and oversee engineering deliverables such as PLS-CADD models, plans, profiles, and stringing charts.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success.
• Stay updated with industry standards, codes, and technologies related to power utility engineering.
• Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvements.
• Work outside standard hours as needed and support construction troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of distribution line design, including upgrading wood poles to steel poles to mitigate wildfire risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering (Civil/Structural preferred).
• At least 7 years of transmission/distribution engineering experience; PE license preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, PLS-CADD.
• Experience with wildfire mitigation strategies; SDGE's ESH program experience is a plus.
• Strong project management and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
