Position overview

Fortis Industries is seeking a Machinery Maintenance Mechanic for our Southern CA contracts. The ideal candidate is ambitious, eager to learn new skills, and capable of working with minimal supervision. The role requires a general understanding of maintenance across various mechanical systems, including overhead doors, air compressors, water systems, gates, and turnstiles.

Responsibilities

1. Perform repairs, preventive, and corrective maintenance on roll-up door systems and related equipment.
2. Maintain facility equipment such as doors, generators, air compressors, and other specified equipment.
3. Complete work orders for facility buildings and grounds as needed.
4. Make equipment adjustments and report serious issues via the PMs in the M plus system.
5. Maintain records and prepare reports on daily work orders, adjusting operations as necessary.
6. Coordinate with outside maintenance contractors as required.
7. Follow environmental, health, and safety policies, including proper PPE use.
8. Assist with operational tasks as directed by supervisors.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

1. Understanding of mechanical operations, maintenance, and repair.
2. Knowledge of electrical systems related to the work area.
3. Proficiency with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment.
4. Understanding of the National Electrical Code.
5. Awareness of health and safety regulations.
6. Ability to operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, air compressors, and related equipment safely.

Qualifications

1. High school diploma or GED required.
2. Trade-specific courses preferred; welding skills highly desirable.
3. Minimum of three years' experience in maintenance.

Licenses & Certifications

1. Valid, active state driver's license required.
2. Must pass drug screening and background checks.

Work Environment

1. Ability to work indoors or outdoors in various weather conditions, including exposure to fumes, dust, and odors.
2. Occasional high noise levels from equipment operation.
3. Physical capability to perform maintenance tasks.
4. Availability for after-hours on-call work.

Compensation and Benefits

Rate of Pay: $31.17/hr plus $4.57/hr health and welfare (max 40 hrs/week).
