Archaeological Field Technician (On-Call)

Description:

Environmental Science Associates (ESA) is actively seeking On-Call Archaeological Field Technicians in the Southern California Area, including Los Angeles, Riverside, and Orange County.

Who You Are

You are an effective team member experienced in archaeological and/or paleontological monitoring, surveys, and documentation of archaeological and/or paleontological resources in accordance with applicable local, state, and federal guidelines. You live in the greater southern California region to support local projects.

You hold a Bachelor's degree or higher in archaeology, anthropology, paleontology, or a related field. You are familiar with using app-based software for field recordation and mapping.

You have a minimum of six months of field experience or relevant academic experience in Southern California, are familiar with working on active construction sites, and are knowledgeable of regional archaeological materials. You are open to travel for projects, with mileage and travel reimbursements provided.

You enjoy outdoor work, can walk long distances carrying a backpack, lift at least 40 pounds, and work in various environments and weather conditions, including remote, rural, urban, forested, arid, and coastal areas. Night and weekend work may be required. You possess a valid driver's license and experience driving off-road 4WD vehicles.

What You Will Do for ESA

Support field projects in Southern California by performing archaeological and paleontological monitoring, coordinating with construction personnel, and interacting with Native American monitors. Responsibilities include:

  1. Monitoring construction activities for archaeological and paleontological resources.
  2. Communicating effectively with construction crews and project staff.
  3. Maintaining detailed records and logs using electronic data collection and GIS mapping tools.
