Associate Athletic Trainer/Director of Rehabilitation — UC San Diego, La Jolla, San Diego Metropolitan area. As an integral member of the Sports Medicine team and Athletic Performance Unit, this role provides leadership in the holistic, year-round care of scholar-athletes. The incumbent will demonstrate professional maturity, leadership, and a growth mindset, with strong interdisciplinary collaboration skills and a systematic, performance-focused approach to rehabilitation and reconditioning. A background in elite, interdisciplinary environments (high-performance preferred) is expected.
Utilize advanced concepts and campus objectives to deliver athletic training services. Assume administrative leadership of related sports medicine programs, applying evidence-based practices for clinical and professional problem solving. Address highly complex issues requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors. Ensure prevention, management, evaluation, treatment, and care of injuries with significant time loss from training and competition. Report to the Associate Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and lead the sports medicine and athletic performance staff to uphold best practices in return-to-sport programs customized to scholar-athlete needs. When necessary, refer injuries to appropriate medical personnel and manage follow-up care. Oversee rehabilitation of scholar-athletes on physician referrals using appropriate physical agents and therapeutic devices. Collaborate with the performance coordinator to implement baseline measurements for injury prevention and return-to-sport assessments. Lead initial case management meetings with head coaches and program support staff on return-to-sport plans. Create and implement policies and protocols for equipment use, injury prevention, treatments, screenings, and assessments. Be an approved Preceptor for athletic training students from various Athletic Training Education Programs.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $79,200 - $143,400 (prorated if appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly equivalent: $37.93 - $68.68.
Factors in determining compensation include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business needs. The posted Hiring Pay Scale is the budgeted range the University reasonably expects to pay; the Annual Full Pay Range may be broader due to internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
