FUTURE SALARY INCREASE
** June 2026 - 4.60% increase to base pay (3.50% Across-the-Board + 1.10% Market Adjustment)
** June 2027 - 4.10% increase to base pay (3.00% Across-the-Board + 1.10% Market Adjustment)
Administrative Secretary II performs a wide variety of secretarial and administrative duties to support County managers and division chiefs. This role may take and prepare minutes of meetings; prepare correspondence, memoranda, reports, board letters, implement department policy, etc. using computer applications that include the use of email, word processing, spreadsheets, and special databases; schedule appointments and coordinate meetings, including virtual meetings (Teams, Zoom, etc.); maintain office supply inventories, order supplies, and validate deliveries; make and reconcile procurement card transactions. In the Sheriff's Office, Administrative Secretary II may supervise staff.

The current vacancies are in the Sheriff's Office; however, the list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies in other departments.
HIRING PROCESS AND TIMELINEThe timeline for this recruitment is outlined below. Please note that dates are approximate and are dependent upon the successful completion of each step of the process.
- Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
- Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
- Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of background or other mutually agreed upon date

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 1. One year of full-time secretarial experience at the level of Administrative Secretary I in the County of San Diego;
OR, 2. Two (2) years of progressively responsible full-time experience performing a wide range of administrative support duties;
OR, 3. Completion of an administrative, office, or front desk certificate program from a recognized community or business college;
AND one year of the required experience.
Note: An associate degree or equivalent from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, may substitute for one (1) year of the experience listed above.
