Summary

The La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club is currently seeking a highly skilled Engineer II to join our team at our beautiful oceanfront restaurant. Pay Rate: $23.00/hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • All repairs and maintenance performed to the highest possible standards.
  • Conducts regular preventative maintenance duties including checking and changing belts, and cleaning coils and fans.
  • Maintains and repairs HVAC equipment including changing faulty parts, patching leaks and evacuating.
  • Troubleshoots and repairs electrical components and controls according to standard practices in the industry.
  • Uses Engineering Handbook and equipment parts and service manuals as guides for standards when repairing equipment.
  • Maintains building electrical system to keep property in a safe, balanced working condition per standard codes and practices.
  • Maintains interior and exterior lighting; patrols building and grounds each shift for damaged fixtures and replaces as needed.
  • Serves the kitchen and laundry areas by unclogging drains, repairing plumbing and mechanical equipment, and performing preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Services guest rooms by repairing drapery hardware, furniture touch-ups, lighting and electronics, plumbing and electrical equipment; maintains room appearance to guest satisfaction.
  • Maintains and services public areas; unclogs drains, repairs hardware, plumbing and electrical equipment.
  • Maintains and monitors Fire Alarm/Life Safety System and responds to emergencies.
  • Observes energy and utilities use and looks for ways to conserve energy; reports ideas to the Engineering Director.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and maintains tools; ensures tools are stored securely.
  • Maintains and replaces tools as needed under Engineering Director guidance.
  • Reads and understands blueprints and schematics in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Safely operates power tools and inspects equipment for conformance with standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

The overall maintenance of guest rooms and facilities influences guest and co-worker impressions. Clean, well-maintained guest rooms, facilities and equipment contribute to guest comfort and satisfaction.

Education and/or Experience

Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and short correspondence; ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to speak effectively in English to customers, managers, or employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with varied concrete variables in situations with limited standardization; ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Must have valid California Driver's License and CFC recovery certificate.

Physical Demands

Regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; frequently stand, bend, climb, and reach; occasionally sit. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus.

Working Conditions

The work environment is usually moderate to loud. Employees may work outdoors in various weather conditions and near moving mechanical parts; exposure to electrical shock, vibration, wet or humid conditions, fumes or chemicals, extreme temperatures. Safety-conscious actions are expected. The company maintains a Right to Know disclosure of potential hazards and encourages reporting hazards to management.

Additional Information

Interaction: Engineers interact with multiple departments, tenants, and guests. Scheduling: Company operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day; hours may vary based on business needs.
