The Role

We are seeking a Civil Engineering Designer with strong technical skills and a passion for integrating LiDAR data into real-world engineering applications. This role goes beyond traditional design; our ideal candidate is someone who thrives on solving problems with code, tools, and automation while still bringing strong civil engineering design fundamentals.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with LiDAR datasets (small to large-scale) to support the development, classification, and extraction of features for basemaps.
• Develop and/or evaluate custom scripts, workflows, and applications to improve data processing efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with field LiDAR and survey teams to ensure seamless integration of data into engineering design.
• Support engineering design tasks while contributing technical insight across the LiDAR-to-design workflow.
• Develop detailed quality control and quality assurance standards for LiDAR datasets.
• Vet emerging technologies and software platforms to identify best-fit solutions for advanced geospatial and design challenges.

What We're Looking For

• A civil engineering designer with strong technical aptitude, someone as comfortable in CAD, Civil 3D, and GIS as they are in Python or custom scripting.
• Experience with LiDAR classification, feature extraction, and basemap development workflows.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including survey and field operations.
• A problem-solver who can bridge the gap between design and data science.
• Based in, or willing to work from, our San Diego office.
