Overview

WHB Engineers is a well-established Civil Engineering and Construction Management firm with offices in San Diego, San Mateo, Dublin, Pleasant Hill and Chico, California. Our firm provides a full array of engineering, public works design and construction and project management services. We are seeking a Construction Manager with a minimum of 10 years of experience to be based out of our San Diego office. This is a full-time, on-site position requiring the ability to be onsite at projects full time.

Our staff works on a broad array of challenging and interesting public and private projects. The ideal candidate can work independently with minimal supervision, is team oriented, personable, and possesses a strong desire to make a positive contribution to the business. This position requires a well-organized and versatile individual who is experienced in construction management with some experience in project management.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the general supervision of Senior Management, managing projects and serving as a liaison between owners, contractors, engineers, and architects
  • Manage and conduct regularly scheduled meetings, providing organized minutes and/or follow up
  • Ensure projects are running smoothly and are on schedule, identifying problems areas and working with the team to provide solutions
  • Provide constructability review by reading drawings, identifying issues, working with responsible team for resolution
  • Coordinate testing and inspections
  • Review and prepare cost estimates, including initiating change orders as needed
  • Prepare thorough and organized status reports
  • Review schedules, pay requests, RFIs and submittals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction management working as Owner's Representative
  • California PE or CCM Certification required
  • Onsite experience performing construction management on public works projects
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and detail-oriented skills
  • Solid experience with the MS Office Suite including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Experience with scheduling software (MS Project and/or Primavera) strongly preferred
  • Experience with Small to Large projects ($5M - $200M)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with clients
  • Experience working with government agencies

Salary and Benefits

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending upon experience. We offer a competitive benefits package that includes company-paid medical, dental and vision insurance, vacation and a 401(k) plan.
