Commercial Construction Project Manager - Life Sciences/Biotech

Summary

Our North County San Diego-based client is in immediate need of a qualified and dedicated Project Manager (PM) with extensive experience in the Life Sciences construction sector. Our client is a highly successful General Contractor known for its excellent service in Commercial Construction, Life Sciences, Mission Critical, Higher Education, and more. Ideal candidates are organized, self-motivated, and strong communicators.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Support existing team with necessary tasks
  • Prepare project schedules
  • Review project drawings and specifications
  • Coordinate with the project development team on architecture, interior design, and construction specifications
  • Develop construction estimates
  • Review budgets and meet financial targets
  • Conduct project kick-off meetings with VP of Construction and project team
  • Coordinate materials procurement through suppliers
  • Monitor expenditures, identify variances, and implement corrective actions
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope
  • Make decisions regarding project cost, schedule, methods, and performance
  • Oversee contract administration, job cost tracking, billing, change orders, claims, and project closeout
  • Participate in project management meetings to review performance

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Building Construction Management
  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing commercial construction projects
  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the Life Sciences sector
  • Experience managing 4-5 projects simultaneously, ranging from $4.5M to $20M
  • Experience in technology, biotech, or healthcare projects
  • Knowledge of codes and general construction methods
  • Ability to read and interpret contracts
  • Experience in writing detailed scopes of work
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, and estimating software
  • Ability to collaborate with accounting to produce accurate reports
  • Excellent management, communication, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and instruction skills
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and adapting to complex situations
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
