This engineering position supports the Survivability Solutions branch within the Advanced Sensing and Emerging Technologies division at Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) based in San Diego, CA.

As a member of the Survivability Solutions branch, you will collaborate with a multi-discipline team to develop high-impact solutions for our customer base, involving concept development, rapid prototyping, testing, and final integration. The team offers opportunities for skill development across various technologies in a fast-paced environment that values technical creativity and applied knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and RF engineering concepts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and realize front and back-end antenna systems, RF circuits, passive RF components, and RF systems.
  • Utilize electromagnetic software (HFSS, COMSOL, FEKO, SENTRI, CST) for antenna design and performance prediction.
  • Develop antenna link budgets, estimate gain and losses, determine link margins, and optimize designs considering project constraints.
  • Design and integrate frequency selective surfaces (FSS) for radomes and aperture designs.
  • Implement low observable techniques for RCS mitigation using materials and shaping.
  • Research new technologies for radiating apertures, antennas, and RF systems.
  • Test RF hardware for performance metrics such as VSWR, gain, polarization, and RCS.
  • Collaborate on requirement evaluation, concept trade studies, and presentations.
  • Support proposals and new business opportunities with technical input.
  • Provide engineering support to customers and end-users.

Basic Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S Citizen with an active Secret security clearance (ability to obtain Top-Secret).
  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering with 8+ years of experience or an advanced degree with 6+ years.
  • Experience with MATLAB, LINUX/UNIX, Windows.
  • Proficiency in RF engineering, antenna theory, and related disciplines.
  • Design experience with antennas and RF components.
  • Knowledge of electromagnetic simulation software.
  • RF testing experience with network analyzers, anechoic chambers, etc.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Some US travel required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Top-Secret clearance.
  • Programming skills in MATLAB and Python.
  • Experience with electromagnetic analytics and CAD tools.
  • Knowledge of composite materials, additive manufacturing, and coatings.
  • Experience in RF measurements and troubleshooting.
  • Leadership in RF projects and familiarity with military communication systems.
