Base pay range

$79,056.80/yr - $90,915.33/yr

Responsibilities

  • General oversight of transportation services and ensuring quality assurance of Transportation Services.
  • Manage and oversee the Transportation Department to meet operational objectives; develop and maintain processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and arrange transportation services for participants to ensure timely delivery.
  • Recruit, hire, and supervise Transportation Drivers with a goal of maintaining an adequate driver workforce (e.g., 50 drivers by year end).
  • Coordinate, monitor, document, and report the delivery of transportation services in collaboration with the contracted transportation provider.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with DHCS, DMHC, CMS, and CHG policies and procedures.
  • Develop departmental metrics related to productivity, service levels, availability, quality, and MAGIC.
  • Work with Supervisors and staff to ensure departmental performance meets standards.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures to ensure regulatory and contractual compliance.
  • Develop staff resources materials including onboarding, knowledge articles, and best practice guides.
  • Provide input on departmental goals and objectives and implement new programs and services as needed.
  • Evaluate existing systems and programs and implement modifications as needed.
  • Participate in management and operational meetings and cross-departmental work groups.
  • Serve as a resource for department staff in handling difficult member situations and act as 24/7 main escalation point for other departments.
  • Supervise the Transportation Coordinator and Transportation Drivers; coordinate department training needs and curriculum.
  • Identify operational deficiencies and help implement improvements with the Director of Member Services and other leaders.
  • Coordinate and monitor member transportation services for timely pick-up/drop-off, appropriate vehicle assignments, exceptional customer service, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain professional relationships with drivers and members, manage member transportation requests, and communicate customer service concerns with management.
  • Ensure documentation of all transportation services, member feedback, and related information.
  • Adhere to policies on safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance; develop new policies as needed.
  • With minimal supervision, demonstrate initiative, strong communication, problem-solving, and the ability to deliver customer-friendly transportation services.
  • Utilize company software and applications for delivery and coordination of member transportation services.
  • Supervise daily activities of drivers and provide feedback to appropriate leadership.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree

Experience / Skills

  • Preferred seven years' experience in customer service, 5 in the health care field.
  • Minimum three years supervisory experience, one in the health care field.
  • Experience with and sensitivity to cultural backgrounds and linguistic needs of membership; familiarity with Medi-Cal and Cal MediConnect populations.
  • Knowledge of Medi-Cal and Cal MediConnect program eligibility and services available through community-based, ethnic service, and advocacy organizations in San Diego.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish or appropriate threshold language.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Alliance staff and others.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Comprehension and compliance with regulatory requirements for Nonemergency Medical Transportation services (DHCS All Plan Letter 17-010).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, or move objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to attend meetings and present outside of regular hours.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting.
  • May require evenings and/or weekend work.
