Overview

UC San Diego Health, a world class Academic Medical Center, is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic, visionary leader to oversee our Radiology Department across the UC San Diego Health organization. This leadership role will work with an outstanding Department of Radiology and School of Medicine faculty in sub-specialties and will lead imaging services across multiple patient populations and specialties.

We provide advanced imaging across Cardiology, Oncology, Neurosciences, and MSK exams and intraoperative procedures. The Imaging Services Manager will join a collaborative leadership team focused on exceptional patient experience, staff engagement, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational and strategic management of multiple imaging modalities within Radiology (US/CT/MRI/Radiography/PET).
• Direct modality supervisors to align with organizational goals, budget, productivity targets, accreditation readiness, and regulatory compliance.
• Set expectations, provide resources, and remove barriers for modality supervisors; participate in escalated issue resolution and ensure service continuity.
• Oversee staff scheduling and assignments, payroll accuracy, staff training and development, protocol and policy updates, recruitment and onboarding, performance management, supply availability, vendor coordination, and policy enforcement.
• Foster a culture of excellence, represent Imaging Services in system-wide initiatives and external partnerships, and ensure readiness for accreditations and regulatory reviews.

Minimum Qualifications

• Eleven (11) years of experience/education/training in at least one radiology modality; OR a Bachelor's Degree in business, healthcare administration or related area plus seven (+7) or more years of experience to include 5 years of supervisory/leadership experience.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Experience and proven clinical practice knowledge with applied background in a radiology modality.
• Knowledge of terms, concepts, and protocols.
• Demonstrated ability to apply knowledge in an acute care setting to improve operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's Degree.
• Licensed technologist in at least one radiology modality.

Special Conditions

• Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs at La Jolla Campus.
• Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay and Benefits

Annual Full Pay Range: $119,400 - $259,800 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).

Hourly Equivalent: $57.18 - $124.43.

The Hiring Pay Scale reflects the budgeted salary or hourly range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader due to internal equity, budget, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
