Job Description and Requirements

We are seeking a self-motivated and experienced Configuration Manager (CM) to join our DevSecOps Department/Cyber, Modeling and Simulation Division at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. ARL/Penn State aims to develop innovative solutions for national challenges supporting the Navy, DoD, and Intel communities. As a Configuration Management Analyst, you will ensure the accuracy and consistency of software and hardware configurations, working with advanced technologies and a talented team to support our clients' missions. We encourage detail-oriented, organized individuals with a strong background in configuration management to apply.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assisting in designing and implementing a CM process; managing hardware/software configuration items and documentation; supporting product development and lifecycle management.
  2. Evaluating and selecting technologies to support program development, defining processes and standards, and maintaining documentation.
  3. Managing technical and engineering changes to hardware, software, and data.
  4. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and participating in meetings.
  5. Providing technical leadership and training on configuration management.
  6. Working with IT personnel to maintain tools, licenses, and automate processes where possible.
  7. Developing CM metrics, maintaining databases, conducting audits, and resolving discrepancies.
  8. Mentoring team members and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

This position may be filled at various levels depending on education and experience, with a minimum requirement of a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of related experience.

Required skills include proficiency in Microsoft Windows, industry practices for CM, familiarity with CM tools (source control, problem tracking), effective communication, collaborative experience, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred skills include experience with Siemens TeamCenter, Atlassian JIRA, active security clearance, and background in engineering or programming languages such as C, C++, Python, Perl.

The salary range is $76,700 - $129,500, which may be affected by geographic location and experience.
