Project Manager-Facility Operations

The County of San Diego has current openings for Project Managers in the Department of General Services, Facility Operations Division. These positions may have a teleworking and/or flexible schedule available after an initial training period.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate data from various sources to develop, monitor and update enterprise-wide facility plans and budgets.
  • Manage and oversee the performance of contracted work, as well as the work of internal facilities operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Develop statements of work for procurements, review proposals submitted by contractors, and may also be required to supervise staff.

Project Manager-Space Management:

  • Lead space management projects from initiation to completion, ensuring adherence to budget, timeline, and quality standards.
  • Assess current space usage across the organization, identifying inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and implement space optimization strategies that align with organizational goals.

Project Manager-Asset Management:

  • Lead facility condition assessment projects to help determine the state of building systems and make recommendations for how/when to repair or replace.
  • Develop and implement asset management strategies that align with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with the facilities planning board, department heads, and others to inform annual budget planning.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in city/regional planning, architecture, engineering, construction management or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of professional-level project management experience.
  • Six (6) years of professional-level experience in the construction industry as a superintendent or manager of multi-trade construction projects.
