Job Description: A fast growing and entrepreneurial real estate development and construction firm is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead their financial operations.

The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, implementing systems and controls, and bringing structure and accuracy to a growing business. You'll lead a small team, collaborate closely with project leaders and ownership, and play a vital role in financial communication with external investors.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead all day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP/AR, payroll, and job costing
• Month-end close reconciliations and journal entries
• Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements to investors and ownership
• Manage and mentor a team of 3
• Establish and improve internal controls, policies, and financial processes to support scalability
• Oversee job costing and collaborate with project managers to ensure accuracy and transparency on project financials
• Manage cash flow forecasting, budget vs. actuals, and project-level reporting
• Work directly with external CPAs on tax planning, compliance, and audit preparation

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 7 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience managing and developing small teams
• Strong real estate industry experience
• Experience with job costing and WIP schedules
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on, entrepreneurial environment
