Job Description

The Compliance Attorney coordinates the Firm's identification of and compliance with various legal, regulatory, and contractual duties. The Compliance Attorney works under minimal supervision and relies on detailed instructions to plan and accomplish goals.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and store Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCGs) and engagement terms
  • Research and provide guidance regarding Market Abuse Regulations
  • Collaborate with practice areas and firm departments (marketing, IT) to provide specific information requested and adhere compliance feasibility with client's OCGs and engagement terms
  • Help keep firm attorneys and staff apprised of their specific roles and responsibilities under existing OCGs and engagement terms
  • Identify new matters involving Personal Health Information (PHI) and verify execution of Business Associate Agreements
  • Maintain database of OCGs to track and enable internal compliance with provisions (e.g., AI, Privacy)
  • Liaise directly with external firm clients in the negotiation of OCGs
  • Work closely with the Deputy General Counsels

Job Specifications

  • Juris Doctorate (JD)
  • Licensed in Illinois or California
  • At least one (1) year of related work experience
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Knowledge of law firm financial analysis and billing, market intelligence, and legal research software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

Target Hiring Range $135,000 - $198,000

Please note that quoted salary ranges are not guarantees of final salary offers. Base pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. Base pay is only one part of the Total Rewards that MWE provides to compensate and recognize our staff professionals for their work. Full time positions are eligible for a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.
