Assistant Professor, Philosophy
The Philosophy Department at USD is pluralistic, covering all significant historical periods and most major philosophical methods. The full-time faculty represent diverse approaches and interests and are engaged in a wide range of teaching, research, and service activities. Department faculty are also regularly involved in offering interdisciplinary special topic team-taught courses.

The Department of Philosophy at the University of San Diego invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning the Fall Semester 2026. Area of specialization: History of Modern Philosophy. Area of competence: Open.
This position includes a 3/3 teaching load with an expectation that the candidate teach at both the introductory and upper division undergraduate level in the faculty member's area of expertise as well as teaching courses for the University's core curriculum. A commitment to outstanding teaching is central to the mission of the university. It is expected that faculty maintain an active research agenda that aligns with the teacher/scholar model and engage in service that fits their interests.
