Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sr. Manager, Program Finance at CAES Defense Systems in San Diego, CA. This position will serve as the Finance Lead for a growing portfolio of programs within the Defense Systems business. The selected individual should partner with program managers, other cross-functional leads, and the Program Area Director to drive successful program execution, to grow the portfolio, and to enable achievement of business and financial objectives.

This position will lead a small team of Cost Analysts, and will be responsible for driving financial excellence in a results-oriented environment. This includes driving financial strategy from bid development through program execution, as well as initiating and implementing initiatives relative to financial performance, process improvement, and finance talent development. The selected individual will serve as a leader within the organization, and should provide mentorship, training, and support to finance team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Cost Analysts.
  • Drive execution and process rigor across a portfolio of high-visibility programs.
  • Apply innovative, critical thinking to solve problems and anticipate future issues arising from current decisions.
  • Mentor and contribute to the professional development of other employees.
  • Confidently present financial information to the leadership team.
  • Provide forecast, budget, EAC, variance explanations, and performance monitoring.
  • Deliver clear, timely, and accurate information to task leaders and project management to drive the business.
  • Participate in new business proposals to influence bid strategy and develop schedule, resource loads, and cost estimates.
  • Demonstrate understanding of Cost to Cost and percentage completion revenue recognition.
  • Apply experience across project planning, control, and variance analysis with a background in Federal procurement; familiarity with multiple program types (CPAF, CPFF, LOE, FPLOE, FFP, T&M, IDIQs, etc.).
  • Interface with program managers, CAES finance, accounting, contracts, subcontracts, and procurement, and external customers to address operational issues in a timely manner.
  • Support cash flow improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare financial deliverables and reports, including invoicing backups; support development of Long-Range Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), monthly forecasts, latest revised estimates (LREs), and Estimates At Complete (EACs).
  • Develop budgets (spend plans) for assigned programs and perform financial analysis on funding profiles and variances.
  • Conduct cost, schedule, and contract performance variance analysis.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish, develop, and analyze cost and schedule baselines, WBS, ETC, and EAC.
  • Work with program managers and cost center managers on planning, tracking actual vs. anticipated spend, and profit margins.
  • Update and maintain projects, WBS, and network activities in the ERP system.
  • Review labor and procurement charges to ensure proper costing practices and internal controls.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Economics.
  • Ten (10)+ years of progressive experience as a Program Control and/or Financial Analyst.
  • Five (5)+ years of people management experience.
  • Aerospace and Defense industry experience.
  • Eligibility to access technology controlled by US export laws; must be a US person or eligible for export license approval.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred:

  • Master's Degree.
  • Eleven (11) + years of progressive experience as a Program Control and/or Financial Analyst.
  • Experience with budgets and schedules for government contracts, government cost control, financial and variance analyses, and program coordination.
  • High proficiency in Excel; good working knowledge of Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP and Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS).

Salary Range: $140,325 - $205,573 annually (San Diego, CA).
