Join our dynamic team at Leidos Innovations Center (LInC) where we focus on advanced sensing and emerging technologies. We are seeking an innovative Antenna Systems Engineer to support our Survivability Solutions branch. In this role, you will work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to develop high-impact solutions that meet the needs of our diverse customer base. From concept development to rapid prototyping and final integration, you'll have ample opportunity to enhance your skills across various technologies in a stimulating and fast-paced environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design and realize cutting-edge front and back-end antenna systems, focusing on individual antennas, phased array antennas, RF circuits, and passive RF components.
  • Utilize computational electromagnetic software to predict performance for various antenna types and apertures (HFSS, COMSOL, FEKO, SENTRI, CST, etc.).
  • Develop antenna link budgets to define system requirements, calculate gain and losses, and optimize performance within project constraints.
  • Design and integrate frequency selective surfaces (FSS) tailored for different radomes and radiating apertures.
  • Implement low observable design techniques for radar cross-section mitigation as necessary.
  • Explore new technologies and applications for antennas, radiating apertures, and RF systems.
  • Conduct RF hardware testing focusing on metrics such as VSWR, insertion loss, gain, polarization, and radar cross-section (RCS).
  • Collaborate with a diverse team to evaluate requirements, perform initial concept studies, and present findings to clients.
  • Support proposals and contribute to new business opportunities through technical input.
  • Provide direct engineering support to customers and end-users.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Current active Secret security clearance required, with the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.

  • Basic computer skills, including experience with MATLAB, LINUX/UNIX, and Windows.
  • Proficiency in RF engineering fundamentals and antenna theory.
  • Experience in designing antennas and passive RF components (i.e., radiating elements, radomes, power dividers).
  • Hands-on experience using simulation tools like HFSS, COMSOL, FEKO, SENTRI, CST.
  • Competency in RF antenna testing using network analyzers and anechoic chambers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
  • Able to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
  • Some travel within the U.S. may be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current active Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and Python for programming and data manipulation.
  • Experience with computational electromagnetic (CEM) analytics and CAD manipulation.
  • Familiarity with composite materials, additive manufacturing, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Proven ability to lead RF projects and guide technical teams to achieve program goals.
  • Knowledge of military and tactical communication systems and architectures.

If you're a visionary who thrives in a challenging environment and is excited about shaping the future of antenna technology, we want to hear from you!

At Leidos, we encourage creativity and out-of-the-box thinking to develop innovative solutions. Join us in pushing the boundaries beyond conventional engineering.
