Position Summary

The co‑op will support ongoing neuroscience research by performing in‑vitro electrophysiology experiments using human iPSC‑derived neurons and multi‑electrode array (MEA) platforms. The student will gain hands‑on experience in cell culture, assay development, and data analysis to evaluate novel therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative diseases.

The full‑time co‑op will take place January – June 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sterile culture and maintain iPSC‑derived neurons, astrocytes, and microglia
  • Sterile treatment of reagents (compounds, oligonucleotides, antibodies)
  • Perform MEA recordings to assess neuronal network activity
  • Analyze electrophysiological data using software
  • Support assay optimization and troubleshooting
  • Prepare experimental records and contribute to data summaries

Qualifications & Experience

  • Currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in neuroscience, biology, biomedical engineering, pharmacology, or a related field
  • Coursework or laboratory experience in cell biology and neurobiology
  • Prior experience with cell culture preferred; exposure to MEA or patch‑clamp techniques is a plus
  • Experience in primary mouse neuron or glial cell culture preferred
  • Experience with electrophysiology, calcium FLIPR assays, or high‑content imaging preferred
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn
  • Ability to work full‑time (40 hours/week) for the co‑op term (6 months)
  • All candidates must be authorized to work in the US both at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment. Immigration or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Compensation Overview

The starting hourly compensation for this assignment is within the range of $27.00 to $35.00 /hr. Final individual compensation and any applicable benefits will be determined by the employer of record.

On‑Site Protocol

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. Site‑essential roles require 100% onsite at the assigned facility. Site‑by‑design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite. Field‑based and remote‑by‑design roles require travel to customers or business partners.
