We are looking for a Parts Shipping and Receiving Clerk who is enthusiastic, honest, hard-working, organized, and committed to great customer service. Parts Shipping and Receiving Clerk's pay is dependent on skills and experience.

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Company and Service Department Overview:

Dalton Motors services Dalton Subaru National City, Dalton Toyota National City, and is located less than 20 minutes from most areas of San Diego. Founded in Guadalajara in 1945, Dalton Motors is a family owned and operated business with over 30 dealerships serving major manufacturers including Subaru, Toyota, and others. They are continuing the legacy of Frank Motors, an automotive and community presence since 1965. Dalton Motors has a large and well stocked parts department and a Service Development Center (SDC) dedicated to setting and reminding customers of their service appointments. We have extremely knowledgeable and experienced service advisors who are highly productive and use to working in a fast-paced, customer friendly environment. We have ongoing training for our staff, including technician and service advisor/consultant training from the manufacturer, new product on-line training, and job specific training by our in-house trainer. Our service and parts areas run very smoothly in large part due to our solid processes and trained, skilled staff, many of whom have been at the dealerships for twenty years or more.

Position Summary:
The Shipping and Receiving Clerk handles all duties relative to receipt and shipment for the parts department. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk reports directly to the Parts Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Maintains database of shipment data to ensure that customer orders are updated and that appropriate billing documents are provided to accounting or other associated departments as required.
  • Ships and receives departmental and/or dealership inventory.
  • Notifies supervisor of major discrepancies, over-shipments, or substitutions.
  • Assists in the maintenance of inventory accuracy and control inventory related records.
  • Creates special orders as directed by the manager.
  • Notifies the appropriate department when special orders or back-ordered items are received.
  • Assists with organization and cleanliness of inventory area.
  • Receives and stock incoming inventory. Verify receipts against purchase orders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by ownership, upper management and/or immediate supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • 1 year experience working in shipping and receiving department.
  • Available to work weekends.
  • Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
  • Basic understanding of warehouse procedures.
  • Good attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge , Skills, and Abilities):
  • 3 years of experience working in shipping and receiving department.
  • Experience in the Automotive industry
  • Reynolds and Reynolds experience
  • Bilingual in Spanish
