Description
Junior Staff Accountant La Jolla, CA. The role reports to the Accounting Manager and performs general ledger reconciliation, monthly journal entries, bank and commission statement processing, carrier premium bordereaux, audit support, and process standardization. The position requires strong analytical skills, adherence to deadlines, and ability to manipulate multi?system data.
What will you do?
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly journal entries and premium reconciliation for financial reporting.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain reconciliation schedules.
- Maintain bank reconciliations and commission statement distribution.
- Prepare and maintain carrier premium bordereaux and surplus lines tax reporting.
- Assist with audit preparation and requests.
- Assist the Accounting Manager with projects and tasks.
- Research and analyze financial discrepancies, report corrective actions, and standardize reconciliation processes.
- Ensure data integrity and audit verification controls.
- Coordinate monthly premium reconciliation to meet deadlines.
- Interface with internal staff to resolve system issues affecting reconciliation.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or equivalent (preferred).
- 2?3 years of related work experience.
- Attention to detail and high?quality work output.
- Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and thrive in a fast?paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and ability to manipulate spreadsheets.
- Compliance with operating policies and procedures.
- Discretion and handling of confidential information.
- Regular attendance and willingness to work overtime as required.
- Positive and cooperative communication with all employee levels.

Pay Range
$52,000 $80,000 per year. The range is benchmarked against similar roles and includes a competitive annual bonus program and long?term incentive stock grants.
