Job Details

COMMERCIAL MUSIC: Adjunct / Substitute Instructor POOL (college credit) San Diego Community College District.

Open until filled. Position Type: Adjunct. Location: District Wide. Pay based on current salary schedule. Applicants must submit official transcripts and other relevant documentation.

Major Responsibilities

• Primary duties related to curriculum and teaching; assignment divided between lecture and lab as determined by department. Adjunct instructional faculty required to be available to students outside of class.


• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.


• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.


• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.


• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.


• Teach all scheduled classes.


• Maintain accurate records.


• Provide quality instruction, create and maintain an environment which emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas, interests and issues.

Minimum Qualifications

• Any Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of professional experience directly related to area of assignment; OR


• Any Associate degree AND 6 years of professional experience directly related to area of assignment; OR


• The equivalent.


• Demonstrated cultural competency, sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and staff.

Desired Qualifications

• California Community College Instructor Credential in Commercial Music (valid for life).


• Foreign degree evaluation required for applicants with foreign degrees; evaluation must be submitted with application.

Licenses / Certificates / Credentials

• California Community College Instructor Credential in Commercial Music (valid for life).

Prior to Employment

• Submit official college transcripts.


• Provide a Certificate of Tuberculosis Exam for initial appointment (renew every 4 years).


• Have fingerprints taken by a Live Scan computer at district expense (clearance prior to first day of employment).


• Present original documents for proof of eligibility to work in United States.
