Professor Of Finance And/Or Accounting

The Fermanian School of Business (FSB) at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) is seeking qualified candidates for a Professor of Finance and/or Accounting. The position is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position beginning in August 2026. The ideal candidate must be academically qualified to meet ACBSP accreditation standards. The review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.

Responsibilities begin in August 2026 and will include teaching a variety of courses in Finance and/or Accounting. Finance and/or Accounting faculty must have knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate for effective undergraduate and graduate teaching. They are also expected to have knowledge of ways to instruct, manage, motivate, and evaluate students, and do the following:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate finance and/or accounting courses in a variety of modalities
  • Advise and mentor students academically, professionally, and spiritually
  • Participate in departmental activities and governance
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts, including FSB assessment and engagement in professional development
  • Serve on university faculty committees and perform other normal faculty duties
  • Engage in scholarship
  • Involve students in research or professional experience as appropriate
  • Work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents, and community members

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in finance, accounting, taxation, or business
  • Ph.D. or DBA earned or in progress in finance or accounting, or a closely related area, or a willingness to earn a Ph.D. or DBA
  • Commitment to teaching excellence
  • Commitment to ongoing professional activity and scholarship
  • Respectful member of a team-driven and collegial environment
  • An active and maturing faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to PLNU as an intentional Christian community in the Wesleyan tradition. This includes living in agreement with PLNU's Community Life Covenant

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CFA Certification
  • Demonstrated experience as an instructor in accounting and/or finance
  • Undergraduate, graduate, and online teaching experience
  • Experience teaching diverse student populations
  • Relevant business experience
