We are seeking a candidate who can bring expertise in clinical flow cytometry workflows to develop new reagents and assays, supporting our Reagent & Assay Development Group.
About the Role
BD's Reagent & Assay Development Group focuses on creating differentiated reagent solutions that uncover truths in biology and medicine. You will initiate and drive reagent and assay development projects, integrating flow cytometry instruments to create next‑generation platforms for research and clinical use. Your contributions will reduce development cycles and streamline technology transfer from R&D to operations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Independently design experimental approaches to assess viability and feasibility of new reagents and assays.
- Prepare technical reports, summaries, protocols, and analyses of R&D projects.
- Maintain a strong understanding of state‑of‑the‑art science and technology development in the industry.
- Perform data analysis and reporting of flow cytometry clinical samples across a variety of assays.
- Provide technical expertise, leadership and support for flow cytometry operations, troubleshooting assay results.
- Participate in streamlining processes related to PIRs and CAPAs to reach rapid and effective conclusions.
- Plan and lead sustaining projects, troubleshooting and risk assessment activities.
- Coordinate with regulatory affairs, quality, marketing, manufacturing, medical affairs, business development, and other functional areas.
- Participate in regulatory agency interactions and provide technical input into safety and regulatory activities.
- Write and review standard operating procedures and departmental policies.
Required Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Immunology or related biological science (Master's degree with at least 3 years of relevant experience, or Ph.D. with some relevant industry experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical research setting, clinical/diagnostic laboratory, or pharmaceutical/biotechnology R&D environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in sample preparation and experimental design for multi‑parameter flow cytometry applications.
- Proven experience training laboratory personnel and leading projects.
- Extensive hands‑on experience operating and troubleshooting flow cytometers.
- Strong knowledge of experimental procedure design and literature research capabilities.
- Current, in‑depth knowledge of flow cytometry, immunology, and cell‑based assays.
- Excellent communication skills (listening, written, oral).
- Self‑motivated with strong learning agility and sense of urgency.
- Willingness to perform hands‑on laboratory work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in IVD (In Vitro Diagnostic) product development.
- Knowledge of leukemia, lymphoma, and/or cancer biology.
- Familiarity with clinical and/or research laboratory environments and quality control procedures.
Benefits and Work Environment

Salary Range
$102,000.00 – $168,200.00 USD Annual
