Role Definition


This role will manage a team that oversees the order to delivery supply chain to ensure availability of necessary commodities to support manufacturing or distribution. The Supply Chain Value Stream Manager will have accountability for the purchased parts schedule, quality, and inventory levels of the service parts business. They are responsible for leading and facilitating service parts growth initiatives that tie to the supply chain function. The value stream manager also is a critical part of driving the supply chain improvement strategy and will be leading anywhere from 6 to 8 SCCs and 2 STEs outside of San Diego. This role requires up to 25% travel. This role reports up to the Supply Chain Area Manager for the Package Global Supply Chain Organization.


Main Responsibilities



  • Develop, implement, and manage supply chain strategies and solutions.

  • Accountable for the purchased parts schedule, quality, and inventory levels of the service parts business.

  • Lead a team of supply chain coordinators and supplier technical engineers to meet the business objectives by creating vision/strategy, setting SMART goals, managing performance and driving accountability, collaborate with commercial team, closing process gaps, establishing and managing KPIs, and supporting individual development.

  • Actively participate in service parts strategy creation and execution with the service parts leadership team by clearly understanding supply chain constraints and capabilities, understanding Solar Turbines right to win, and collaborating with various cross functional teams to achieve OPACC growth.

  • Be a champion and a strategic leader in driving capability improvement within the supply chain to meet the growing needs of the business by understanding internal customer requirements, understanding business nuances and gaps, identifying and exploring critical technology/data, and creating strategies and plans to meet the needs of the business.

  • Ensure the supplier value stream performance is consistent and synchronized with Solars demand.

  • Serve as the industry expert for a particular value stream category and develop and execute supplier sourcing strategies that support business growth and cost reduction targets while delivering year over year supplier performance improvement.

  • Act as an internal consultant on the availability of future commodities and the corresponding impact on design programs.

  • Identify performance gaps within the supply base and develop improvement plans for the identified gaps.

  • Provide leadership through the development, mentoring and training of their team to build the best Global Supply Chain team and drive business results.

Desired Qualifications


A degree and 5-7 years of experience in a similar role, or in lieu of a degree 10+ years of functional experience in a similar role.

Summary Pay Range


$140,964.00 - $211,446.00


Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
