Job Description

Human Resources Assistants perform a wide range of human resources support duties, including collecting data and preparing it for analysis by HR staff. They work in areas such as departmental human resources, selection, recruitment, training, labor relations, position classification, and compensation. Assistants are privy to highly confidential and sensitive information.

Duties

  • Assist with recruitment and hiring processes.
  • Assist with onboarding new employees, ensuring all necessary paperwork is completed and employees are properly introduced to policies and procedures.
  • Maintain and update employee records.
  • Help coordinate employee training programs, workshops, and development initiatives.
  • Provide administrative support to the HR team, including preparing reports, maintaining employee files, and managing correspondence.
  • Assist with employee benefits, leaves, and payroll processes.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, policies, and confidentiality requirements.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Associates degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency, preferably in public or business administration, human resources management, industrial/organizational psychology, or related field.
  • OR two (2) years of journey-level clerical experience in personnel, departmental personnel, training, or employee services, performing duties such as compiling information, posting, balancing records, handling public contact situations, and preparing reports and correspondence.

Hiring Process and Timeline
  • Job offer and background process begin after interviews. Current County employees may be excluded from additional background screening.
  • Pre?employment medical screening: approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
  • Anticipated start date: based on successful completion of medical screening or a mutually agreed date.


Condition of Employment

All prospective candidates will undergo a pre?employment background check (including fingerprinting) and medical screening prior to beginning employment. Additional background investigations may be conducted as required.
