Responsibilities

• Supervise the facility population with a focus on safety, security and facility sanitation; provide care, custody and control of residents; establish a safe environment for the facility, staff, visitors and residents.
• Mentor, develop and train team members; monitor resident worker activities and provide instruction; ensure head counts are conducted and logged at required times.
• Ensure accountability calls are completed within the required time-frame (home detention, social, work and weekend passes).
• Conduct drug and alcohol testing as directed by facility administration.
• Perform rescue functions during accidents, emergencies and disasters, including basic emergency medical aid and CPR, and assist with evacuation and safe removal from confined areas.
• Distribute food plates during late meal service, as applicable.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience: One year of work experience, including six months in a security-related field, is required.
• Preferred: Experience in correctional management and supervisory experience.
• Certification: California Adult Corrections Officer Core Course certification is required.
• Skills: Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing; applies problem-solving techniques to complex issues.
• Other requirements: Must complete pre-service and other training programs as required; must be available to work any hours, any shift; minimum age 18.
