We are looking for a Civil Engineer to join our team. You will work closely with a team of experts on some of North America's most significant projects, such as the Fargo‑Moorhead Flood Diversion in Fargo, ND, the Potomac River Crossing in Washington, DC, and the P‑508 Floating Dry Dock project in San Diego, CA.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Be a key contributor to a team of engineers and technicians
- Solve engineering problems and challenges
- Perform designs, evaluations, preparation of calculations and drawings, and cost estimates
- Conduct site inspections and investigations from time‑to‑time
- Prepare standard documents, such as technical specifications, per applicable design codes
- Research and review design options for both technical and financial impact
- Prepare engineering reports and other technical documents

On top of that, we require:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or higher (master's preferred), with 5‑7 years of related experience in civil design, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Registered as a Professional Engineer in CA, or ability to obtain while working at COWI
- Engagement in professional associations and a willingness to learn
- Advanced planning and organizational skills for multiple time‑sensitive deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with various CADD analysis software programs
- Ability to work with staff located remotely and willingness to travel

Base compensation: $82,000 to $112,000 for San Diego location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set and/or location.
