Job Location

San Diego, CA, Hybrid. This position allows a hybrid work structure: remote up to 2 days per week between Tuesday and Thursday after probationary period and based on the demands of specific tasks. Working from the office is encouraged for some tasks that require high collaboration.

Job Overview

GALT Aerospace is looking for a full‑time, salaried Entry‑Level Software Engineer. You'll bring academic knowledge, project experience, or internship background into real‑world aerospace applications. You'll work side by side with experienced engineers, gaining mentorship while contributing to mission‑critical software development in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the full software development lifecycle, from design through testing and deployment.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure smooth integration into larger systems.
  • Participate in Agile development activities such as sprint planning, daily stand‑ups, and reviews.
  • Apply programming knowledge to develop and maintain scalable, reliable software.
  • Support testing and evaluation activities, including work at customer sites when required.
  • Learn and apply GALT Aerospace's software processes, standards, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related STEM field.
  • Coursework, internships, or projects demonstrating knowledge of programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, or other OOP languages.
  • Software development concepts, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).
  • Interest in front‑end or full‑stack development (e.g., frameworks such as Vue.js, React).
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain a DoD security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Internship or project experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud environments.
  • Exposure to databases (e.g., Redis, PostgreSQL).
  • Familiarity with DevOps concepts and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals or networking.
  • Interest in aerospace or defense applications.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to sit or stand for 1 hour at a time.
  • Must be able to operate a computer.

Application Process

Base pay ranges from $118,000 to $125,000 per year. Compensation will depend on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
