  • Specify and support procurement of pulsed power hardware, including capacitors, transformers, switches, and related subsystems
  • Oversee assembly and integration of pulsed power modules into laser systems
  • Plan and conduct testing of pulsed power systems, including diagnostics and performance evaluation under operational conditions
  • Collaborate with laser, optical, mechanical, and controls engineering teams to ensure safe and reliable system integration
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and systems-level issues during prototyping and testing
  • Document electrical designs, testing procedures, results, and operational guidelines
  • Contribute to scaling strategies for future power-producing fusion systems
  • Interaction with external pulse power partners with communication and management responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working with high-voltage pulsed power systems
  • Strong background in circuit design and modeling of pulsed power systems, including SPICE or equivalent simulation tools
  • Experience with high-energy capacitive discharge systems, thyratrons, spark gaps, solid-state switches, or similar components
  • Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in high-voltage environments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and hands-on experience with hardware prototyping
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
