Join to apply for the Senior QA Engineer role at Movemedical
We at Movemedical make the world's best software solution for medical device companies.
We're looking for a Senior QA Engineer to build and lead the foundation of automated testing at Movemedical. You'll be helping transition the organization from a mostly manual approach to a scalable, automation‑driven quality practice.
In this role, you'll partner closely with Engineering, Product, and DevOps to define a QA strategy that balances speed, stability, and confidence in every release. Your mission: enable reliable, high‑quality product delivery by preventing critical issues before they reach our customers.
This is a hands‑on role with high ownership and visibility, ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, leads by influence, and enjoys mentoring others as they raise the bar for quality.
We hire smart, tenacious people and give them mentorship and opportunities to grow. Our development process is built for remote teams and facilitates communication and trust. As a small company with big ambitions, we recognize the impact of every team member.
Who Are You?
You're a hands‑on QA engineer with strong technical depth and a practical mindset. You know how systems fit together and can trace issues across APIs, data, and UI. You focus on high‑impact testing and automation that improves speed and reliability. You're comfortable being the first to build frameworks, integrate tests into CI/CD, and mentor others. You communicate clearly, collaborate well with developers and product teams, and take ownership of quality from start to release.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify thorough testing strategies and clear acceptance criteria and ensure new features meet quality standards before deployment.
- Implement and maintain test automation frameworks for web browser and native mobile (Flutter) platforms. Desktop application is a potential future platform.
- Mentor team members and help scale QA automation best practices across teams.
- Participate in CI/CD pipeline setup by integrating automated tests to support continuous delivery.
- Develop and execute manual and automated test cases to validate functionality, performance, and scalability of products.
- Conduct end‑to‑end testing, ensuring reliability in production‑like setups.
- Document and track defects in JIRA, ensuring thorough bug reproduction and follow‑up.
- Collaborate with DevOps to monitor product health in production and identify test automation opportunities to reduce risk.
- Contribute to QA documentation, including test strategies, metrics, and best practices.
What Skills and Experience Do We Expect You to Have?
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–6 years of experience in software QA, ideally in a SaaS or cloud‑based environment with mobile applications.
- Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and continuous testing practices.
- Hands‑on experience with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Playwright, Espresso, XcuiTest, Robot).
- Comfortable using performance testing tools like JMeter or similar.
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines and how automated tests fit into modern delivery workflows.
- Understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and backend data validation.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills; able to clearly explain risk, impact, and trade‑offs to technical and non‑technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS cloud environments.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Grafana, SumoLogic, DataDog, etc).
- Exposure to multi‑client or multi‑version SaaS systems, where configuration and branching logic add complexity.
What Does Success Look Like in the First Year?
- Implementation of high‑ROI automated smoke or API tests and stabilization of the release pipeline.
- Establishment of test coverage for the most critical user flows, integration of automation into CI/CD, and mentorship of teammates in automation adoption.
- Elevated QA maturity, fewer production bugs, higher release confidence, and stronger collaboration across teams.
What Character Traits Do We Value?
- Hungry – Own problems and push beyond expectations without being asked.
- Humble – Value team success over ego and foster shared wins.
- Strong – Self‑aware, coachable, and willing to engage in hard conversations.
