This engineering position supports the Survivability Solutions branch within the Advanced Sensing and Emerging Technologies division at Leidos Innovations Center (LInC).

Join our dynamic team and contribute to developing innovative solutions for our diverse customer base. You will engage in concept development, rapid prototyping, testing, and final integration, gaining invaluable experience across various technologies in a fast-paced environment that celebrates technical creativity and practical application of engineering concepts.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on design and realization of both front and back-end antenna systems, focusing on individual antennas, phased array antennas, RF circuits, passive RF components, and RF systems.
  • Utilize computational electromagnetic software to design and predict performance across various types of antennas and apertures (HFSS, COMSOL, FEKO, SENTRI, CST, etc.).
  • Develop antenna link budgets to define system requirements, estimate gain and losses over bandwidth, and perform optimizations to meet project constraints.
  • Design and integrate frequency selective surfaces (FSS) for various radome and radiating aperture designs.
  • Implement techniques for low observable design to mitigate Radar Cross Section (RCS) where necessary.
  • Investigate new technologies and applications for antennas and RF systems, enhancing our product offerings.
  • Conduct RF hardware testing to evaluate performance metrics such as VSWR, insertion loss, gain, polarization, and radar cross-section.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate requirements, conduct initial concept trade studies, and deliver presentations to customers.
  • Provide technical input for proposals and identify new business opportunities.
  • Deliver direct engineering support to customers and end-users.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering with 8+ years of related experience or an Advanced degree with 6+ years of experience.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, LINUX/UNIX, and Windows.
  • Strong foundation in RF engineering and antenna theory with knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Experience designing antennas and passive RF components (radiating elements, radomes, power dividers, couplers, transitions, FSSs, etc.).
  • Proficient in using software and simulation tools such as HFSS, COMSOL, FEKO, SENTRI, CST, etc.
  • Experience in RF antenna testing with network analyzers, PNAs, anechoic chambers, and near-field ranges.
  • Effective communication skills to convey technical information effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Some travel within the US is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current active Top-Secret security clearance.
  • Proficient in programming, data manipulation, and visualization using MATLAB and Python.
  • Knowledgeable in computational electromagnetic analytics, CAD manipulation, finite element mesh development, and data processing.
  • Familiarity with composite materials, Additive Manufacturing, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Proven ability to schedule and execute RF measurements and perform analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Experience leading RF projects and guiding technical teams toward program completion.
  • Familiarity with military and tactical communication and data systems.
