SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, safety conscious, experienced, Carpenter to work full time for SJS on Naval Base San Diego, CA to help support operations.

The Carpenter must possess a minimum of 4 years of verified experience.

The pay for this position will be $33 per hour. There will also be 11 paid federal holidays, and 56 hours of sick time sick time accrual. We also offer an Employer-Paid Medical, Dental, vision and life insurance.

Responsibilities will include:

• Measures & Cuts: Measures, cuts, constructs or repairs wood or wood substitute items such as scaffolding, metal stud, suspended ceiling materials, staging parts, panels, bins pallets, concrete forms, dray walls, and rook decking.
• Measures, cuts, constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies wood, composite, and wood substitute materials by performing work to close tolerances, exact fit, and structural soundness. Measures, cuts, constructs, installs, repairs, and modifies building components such as rafters, walls, staircases, windows, and frames, trim work, and furniture/cabinets, Tape and Finish drywall.
• Independently plans and completes projects in involve constructing, altering, repairing, and/or modifying wood or metal framework, metal or wood door's jamb, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior/exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. Spacing, accuracy and fit are essential and structural soundness or appearance are important.
• Measures, cuts, constructs, installs repairs and modifies routine mill work, framing, benches, partitions, tables, furniture, etc. Performs work to close tolerances, exact fit, and structural soundness.
• Operates and uses a wide variety of specialty woodworking machines and tools. Operates and uses carpentry tools by setting-up, adjusting, and maintaining tools to meet required specifications.
• Operates and uses a variety of tools by setting-up, adjusting, and maintaining tools to meet required specifications.
• Plans, measures and lay out carpentry materials using broad knowledge of wood materials and substitutes, with general and precision woodworking techniques.
• Projects involve constructing, altering, repairing, and/or modifying metal or wood framework, rafters, doors, finished paneling, windows, rough furniture, interior/exterior trim, staircases, trusses and beams. Spacing, accuracy and fit are essential, and structural soundness or appearance is important.
• Plans, measures, and lays out carpentry materials using advanced shop mathematics for complex and exact projects. Plans, measures, and lays out carpentry materials by interpreting complex or incomplete instructions, sketches, blueprints, and building codes.

Qualifications:

• Due to regulations, a REAL ID is required.
• US Citizenship is required.
• 4 or more years of experience as a Carpenter
• Thorough knowledge of wood and wood substitute materials and construction techniques.
• Must possess a California State Driver's License
• CPR and OSHA certifications are required preferred, but not required.
• Skilled in the operation of general and precision carpentry and woodworking equipment, and can produce finished items with precise fits, accurate dimension, and acceptable appearance.
• Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
