Primary Purpose

The Graphic and Visual Designer position is responsible for bringing Sempra's brand to life through compelling visual storytelling across a variety of formats, including print, digital and video. This role supports brand consistency, creative execution, and content development for marketing and communications campaigns. Acts as a key contributor on our creative team, helping shape how we tell stories and connect with audiences. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative, detail-oriented, and skilled in both graphic design and multimedia production.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and produce visual content for internal and external communications including social media, website, email, presentations, brochures, and signage.
  • Develops multimedia content, including short videos and motion graphics, to support storytelling initiatives.
  • Contribute to photo and video production efforts, supporting pre-production planning, on-site execution, and post-production needs.
  • Collaborate in brainstorming sessions and creative concepting for campaigns, contributing ideas and helping bring them to life through storyboards, mockups or creative pitches.
  • Translate messaging and strategy into clear, engaging visual narratives in collaboration with marketing and communications team members.
  • Support the development of brand assets, templates, and design systems.
  • Assist in quality control, proofing, and brand compliance across creative deliverables.
  • Maintain and organize creative asset library. Ensures proper use of branded materials.
  • Collaborate closely with the creative manager and coordinator to prioritize incoming requests and track requests.
  • Coordinate and communicate with a variety of vendors for creative support.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communications, or related field is required.

Experience

  • 4+ years of experience ina graphic design or multimedia role, ideally within a corporate or agency environment is required.
  • Must reside in Southern California or be willing to relocate upon hire.

Skill and Abilities

  • Expertise with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro/After Effects).
  • Experience with Canva, PowerPoint, and other design tools.
  • Experience with video editing and motion graphics.
  • Production experience in a variety of media, including print, photography, video and digital.
  • Strong expertise in design principles, user experiences, typography, layout and composition.
  • Must possess a strong sense of concept development and brand awareness.
  • Able to think critically and deliver creative solutions to complex business concepts.
  • Able to manage multiple projects at once while delivering high-quality, on-brand creative that aligns with strategic goals.
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Office Suite (especially PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Familiarity with design tools like Figma or Canva.
  • Experience working with content and project management tools.
  • Excellent organizational, time and project management skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills and able to communicate effectively with both technical and creative teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and be a self-starter.
  • Able to take direction and work independently, but also able to collaborate with a team.
  • Sound judgment, creativity and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to work in a large, complex organization. Corporate experience desirable.
