About this role

Healthcare Staffing Professionals has an immediate need for Licensed Psychiatric Technician to work in a correctional facility in San Diego, CA. The LPT shall provide services as permitted within the scope of practice in accordance with the facilitiespolicies and procedures.

Pay Rate: $48/hr

Location: San Diego, CA

Schedule: MUST INCLUDE WEEKENDS (options you may choose from for consistent schedule: Wed-Sun 6A-2P, Thurs-Mon 2-10:30P, Fri-Tues 2-10:30P)

Job Duties:

• Give a basic level of general behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth;
• Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitoring of patient /youth with signs and symptoms of mental illness;
• Under general supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD), perform psychiatric nursing procedures, such as administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, take and chart temperature, pulse, blood pressure and respiration, and all other basic general nursing procedures within the scope of licensure;
• Work with other disciplines as part of Treatment Team in the development of treatment plans and objectives from assessments in providing an overall treatment program for patient/youth;
• Assist in the development of group and individual therapy regimens. Act as a provider of group therapy to patient/youth;
• Provide liaison activities with custody personnel in management of mentally or developmentally disabled patient/youth;
• Observe patients'/youths' physical condition and behavior, and report significant changes;
• Prepare and coordinate clinical appointment dates and times, and assist in having patient/youth present at their clinical appointments;
• Assist in first responder duties, such as giving Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid as needed;
• Follow completely and accurately all documentation procedures as required by the facility
• Help to create a safe, secure and therapeutic environment for patient/youth.

Requirements:

• Twelve (12) continuous months of experience within the last three (3) years performing services similar in scope to those defined herein in a public or private institution. Internship does not count towards the required experience.
• Possess and maintain while providing services - a current and valid license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nurse and Psychiatric Technician in order to perform services in the State of California.
