Histology job opportunity in San Diego, CA!
- The schedule for this opportunity is Tuesday - Saturday 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm.
- Working under general direction to precisely and accurately conduct a variety of routine and specialized histology procedures.
- Researching, troubleshooting, and resolving histology related inquiries and problems within the laboratory.
- This position requires you to produce the highest quality of microtomy, tissue grossing, tissue processing, and H&E staining, and equipment maintenance
- Preparing microscopic slides on human tissue for research/diagnostic purposes, including processing, embedding, microtomy, and mounting to include paraffin processed tissue
- Quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Slide organization, prepares and maintains all necessary reagents, including stains, alcohols, and paraffins according to proper specifications
- Processing specimen accessioning to include all manual and computerized data entry
- Performing routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by a pathologist(s) according to established SOP's
- Performing routine maintenance on laboratory equipment in designated area. This includes cleaning equipment, minor troubleshooting and reporting any irregularities in operation to supervisor/manager
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in science highly preferred
- Certification: HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP) required
- At least 2 years of experience in high complexity clinical laboratory testing, preferably in molecular diagnostics
- Ability to confidently and rapidly cut and mount high quality tissue sections from a variety of tissue types including needle biopsies
- Maintains continuing education units required by California Department of Health Services
- Must be meticulous and detail oriented
- Experience managing people a plus
- Experience with all major brands of histology equipment a plus.
