Utility Material Handler (Traveling)

Overview:
The Patriot Group is seeking dependable, safety-minded, and travel-ready Utility Material Handlers to support a national utility distributor on warehouse and material response assignments throughoutthe United States.
This position is based out of San Diego, California, but the work supports nationwide deployments in warehouse and utility material handling environments. The ideal candidate will have forklift experience, strong warehouse awareness, and the ability to support fast-paced assignments involving material movement, inventory, truck loading/unloading, and order pulling/kitting.
This is a hands-on role that may involve work in both indoor warehouse settings and outdoor operational environments, depending on the assignment.
Responsibilities:
Operate forklifts safely and efficiently in warehouse and outdoor work environments
Pull, stage, sort, and kit materials for warehouse release and field support
Load and unload trucks with utility materials and related equipment
Receive inbound shipments and verify counts, condition, and accuracy
Support inventory control through cycle counts, stock checks, and material organization
Maintain clean, organized, and safe warehouse and yard work areas
Use scanners, tablets, or other tracking tools to support inventory and material movements
Follow pick sheets, shipping documents, work instructions, and site procedures
Work closely with supervisors and team members to meet assignment goals
Support warehouse operations in both indoor and outdoor environments as needed
Follow all customer, company, and site safety requirements, including PPE compliance
Assist with surge support and temporary deployment needs across multiple locations nationwide
Required Skills/Abilities:
Forklift experience required
Valid REAL ID required for air travel
Valid driver's license required
Ability and willingness to travel nationwide for temporary assignments
Ability to work assignments with a typical Sunday departure and Saturday return
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor conditions
Ability to lift, carry, move, and handle materials throughout the workday
Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and work in active warehouse settings for extended periods
Strong reliability, attention to detail, and ability to follow instructions
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
Warehouse experience
Experience with inventory, cycle counts, stock handling, and order pulling
Experience loading and unloading trucks in a warehouse, utility, or distribution setting
Familiarity with scanners, warehouse systems, tablets, or inventory software
Experience in utility, logistics, construction supply, or distributor environments
Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior experience in emergency response, fire service, military, utility, or logistics preferred
Valid driver's license required
Forklift and small equipment operation required
OSHA 10 certification required
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
Ability to work outdoors and in extreme weather conditions
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and operate tools for extended periods
Travel & Assignment Details
Position is based out of San Diego, CA
Work supports nationwide response assignments
Assignments are generally 2 weeks minimum
Travel is commonly outbound on Sundays and return on Saturdays
Air travel is required
Hotel lodging is arranged by the company
Per diem is paid based on county designation
