Responsibilities include the rigorous sanitization of patient rooms, nursing stations to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for patients, families, and staff.

Background: Must be able to pass a background investigation and receive a DBIDS access card.

Requirements

The Housekeeping Aid I/ Janitorial role is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across various areas within the facility, including hospital wards, patient rooms or exam rooms, nursing stations, lounges, lavatories, bathrooms, offices and other designated spaces. This position falls under the Environmental Services department as part of the Job Options Inc. contract. Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of assigned areas and surfaces to ensure all have a clean, uniform appearance free of streaks, spots, and other evidence of soil and to include disinfect with use of approved hospital grade chemicals.

  • Use cleaning devices such as light mops, small ringer, dusters, industrial vacuum cleaners, and other necessary tools, chemicals and supplies.
  • Vacuum carpeted areas, including area and throw rugs. The carpeted area shall be free of visible dirt, debris, litter, and other foreign matter.
  • Performs specific cleaning tasks, including dusting horizontal surfaces; emptying waste baskets and removing trash; damp-wiping furniture; cleaning and polishing metal and porcelain bathroom fixtures, dry-mopping and sanitizing floors of rooms and offices; spot-cleaning walls and windows; replenishing room supplies; and sorting and distributing linen. After cleaning, receptacles shall be free of deposits, dirt, streaks, and odors.
  • General dusting to include horizontal surfaces shall be dusted or cleaned to eliminate dust collection, including floors, vents, empty shelves, door/window frames, above/ below base of equipment.
  • Maintain assigned equipment for cleanliness and report needed repairs for equipment, furniture, building, and fixtures.
  • Maintain a consistent level of productivity to complete all tasks efficiently and on schedule. Adhere to safety protocols and demonstrate reliability in daily operations.
  • Adhere to the Company rules, technical procedures and safety policies as may be communicated to him or her verbally or in writing.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to support departmental goals.
  • Due to nature of the work being performed, punctual and regular attendance is required.
  • In case of fire or other internal emergency, assists in escorting ambulatory patients to exits.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on operational needs.


Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required: High school diploma or GED. General Education; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of related education and/or experience.

Minimum Experienced Required: Working knowledge of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment, of safety practices as related to work. Ability to follow directions, understand work rules and procedures; accept constructive criticism, and ability to interact well with co-workers, hospital staff and visitors. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions provided in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Contractor or personnel is required to comply with required training under OSHA standards, and Health and Safety Code related to sanitation, and infectious diseases. Any other training to completed will be directed by the employee's worksite location Project Manager.

Language Skills Required: Ability to perform aforementioned tasks in English, read and write. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, service requests, container labels, product information, operating and maintenance instructions, directions on cleaning chemicals and other materials and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and to convert standard time into military time.

Investigation: Must complete the SECNAV Form 5512/1 and submit to Recruiting Team to receive DBIDS access card. Must return signed verification of receiving the Job Description. Non-compliance with all or part of this job description; or failure to pass sections or be denied access of the background investigation could result in demotion or possible termination. Must be a U.S. Citizenship to be eligible for a background check and base access. U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.
