Position: Global Payroll Specialist (APAC & LATAM)

Location: La Jolla, CA (Hybrid)

Type: Permanent

Salary: $80k – $92k/PA

About the Role

We are partnering with a global investment / financial services organization seeking a Global Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across APAC and LATAM regions.

This role sits in the U.S. and acts as a central liaison between HR, Finance, employees, and third-party payroll vendors to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing across multiple countries.

Key Responsibilities

Manage shared payroll inbox and respond to employee payroll inquiries

Serve as the primary point of contact for international payroll questions

Coordinate monthly payroll cycles across APAC & LATAM with external vendors

Review payroll inputs:

  • New hires / terminations
  • Bonuses / commissions
  • Benefits & deductions
  • Tax data

Perform gross-to-net validations and payroll reconciliations

Ensure compliance with local tax and labor laws across multiple countries

Maintain and update employee payroll records in HRIS systems

Support internal and external payroll audits

Partner with Finance on:

  • Payroll funding
  • Journal entries
  • Month-end close

Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries

Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and system reviews (e.g., BlackLine)

Assist with payroll process improvements and system enhancements

Required Qualifications

2+ years of multi-country payroll experience (APAC and/or LATAM preferred)

Strong understanding of international payroll regulations

Experience working with third-party payroll vendors

Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables preferred)

Experience with payroll systems such as:

  • ADP
  • Workday
  • UKG

Strong attention to detail and confidentiality handling

Ability to manage deadlines across multiple time zones

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Preferred Qualifications

Payroll certification (CPP or equivalent)

Experience with payroll migrations or implementations

Exposure to expatriate or global mobility payroll

Work Environment

Flexibility required for early/late calls
