Shipping & Receiving Supervisor

Description:

Volt is immediately hiring for a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor in San Diego, CA (92121).

As a Shipping and Receiving Supervisor, you will:

  • Lead and coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations, including schedules, paperwork, and logistics flow
  • Confirm incoming materials and outgoing shipments are accurate and compliant with purchase orders and shipping documentation
  • Inspect inbound materials to ensure quality, quantity, and specification compliance
  • Maintain organized inventory systems and warehouse layout to support efficiency and accuracy
  • Partner with Production, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Quality teams to align material flow with operational needs
  • Oversee safe handling, movement, staging, and traceability of materials and finished products
  • Ensure all materials are properly labeled and traceable throughout the facility
  • Supervise the use and upkeep of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment
  • Manage company vehicles used for deliveries and pickups, including scheduling and maintenance oversight
  • Ensure drivers follow company policies, safety standards, and traffic regulations
  • Verify vehicle inspections and monitor fuel usage to support cost-effective routing
  • Coordinate freight carriers, negotiate schedules and rates, and monitor delivery performance
  • Prepare and review shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing slips, and export paperwork
  • Manage domestic and international shipments with an understanding of customs and global shipping requirements
  • Track shipments and communicate delays or exceptions to internal teams and customers
  • Ensure all shipments meet customer, packaging, labeling, and transportation requirements
  • Train, coach, and develop shipping and receiving team members
  • Foster a safety-focused, collaborative, and high-performing work environment
  • Lead team meetings to communicate expectations, schedules, and process updates
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards
  • Drive continuous improvement and standardization within shipping and receiving operations
This is a full time, direct hire opportunity.

The ideal candidate will have:
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations within a manufacturing setting
  • Proven experience leading or supervising teams
  • Solid understanding of shipping paperwork, freight logistics, and inventory control processes
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving history
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience coordinating international shipments and working with customs requirements
  • Background in regulated or quality-focused manufacturing environments
  • Experience driving process improvements or operational efficiencies


Salary: $70,000 - $75,000/year.

*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
