The Summer Aquatics program will run from June to July at Mt. Carmel High School. The Opening and Closing dates will be provided as we move closer to June.
You will need to provide proof (copies) of the following current and valid certifications or proof that you are registered in a class to obtain the required certification(s):
- CPR/AED for Public Safety Personnel
- First Aid for Public Safety Personnel (Title 22)
- Lifeguard Training Certificate
- Water Safety Instructor (30-hour course and MUST BE COMPLETED and provided to us before you are cleared to start working).
PUSD Classification Salary Range: $17.38 - $22.23 per hourAnticipated Hiring Salary Range: $17.38 per hour (step 1) - $20.15 per hour (step 4) **5/15/26 to 6/1/25 - NEW to PUSD Candidates MUST complete All Onboarding (TB Test, LiveScan, and fingerprints prior to start date). VALID CERTIFICATION AND ONBOARDING ARE REQUIRED TO BE CLEARED TO START. Qualified Candidates will be notified of placement on eligibility list** DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, responsible for lifeguarding and swimming instruction on a seasonal basis primarily during summer community programs.
Positions in this class are distinguished from those in the next higher class of General Lifeguard in that incumbents are typically employed only on a short-term seasonal basis to supplement the permanent staff of an aquatics facility. General Lifeguards often lead the work of seasonal employees in the class of Lifeguard/Swim Instructor and are assigned a more comprehensive role in the year-round operation of the facility.
Examples of Duties Supervises swimmers; maintains discipline and order in and around pool facilities.
E Provides swimming instruction.
E Assist in maintaining pool and facilities in a clean, sanitary condition.
E Administers first aid as necessary.
E Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and six months related lifeguarding experience including completion of specialized training in first aid and water safety instruction and responsibility for swimming instruction.
