Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role for a Research Software Engineer based in San Diego, CA, with flexibility for occasional remote work. We are seeking an engineer to take ownership of core analysis software being developed by our R&D team. This role involves maintaining, debugging, and improving existing analysis software, while also contributing to ongoing enhancements and future development. The ideal candidate would have engineering background with solid software skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain analysis software used for monitoring and engineering analytics deployed in production environment
• Work with engineering metrics and analytical outputs to support reliable software behavior
• Support debugging, testing, validation, and software improvements
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on technical and development needs
• Contribute to data workflows and software tools that support monitoring applications
• Identify issues proactively and drive practical solutions

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering discipline
• Experienced Python programmer with 2+ years experience deploying Python software in production
• Experience in software development, debugging, and maintaining analytical or technical software systems
• Ability to work with engineering metrics, physical measurements, or engineering analysis output
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience writing data analysis software and creating scalable deployed services using Python
• Familiarity with time-series data and signal processing
• Experience with SQL and AWS
• Exposure to machine learning or data-driven analytical tools
