Sycuan Tribe Convenience Store Associate

The ancestors of the Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation existed many centuries ago as a community of peoplea Tribe living together, farming, hunting and fishing to survive. As a Convenience Store Associate, you'll be the friendly face customers remember, providing great service, keeping the store looking its best, and helping ensure every visit is quick, easy, and welcoming. This is a hands?on, fast?paced position where no two days are the same.

Job Purpose:

Provides friendly, efficient service to convenience store customers and maintains facility in good working order

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provides customer service by acknowledging and welcoming customers as they enter the store in a friendly and courteous manner, providing customers with information and assistance as needed, entering customer purchases in point-of-sale system, collecting, counting and processing payments following established procedures, bagging or boxing purchases for customers, issuing refunds according to established procedures, and thanking customers for their business upon departure. - 50%
2. Maintains a clean and safe facility by cleaning, stocking and organizing store shelves, counters, walk-in coolers and cashier stations, displaying products in a visually appealing manner, keeping aisle ways free of debris and obstacles, mopping floors, disposing of trash and cleaning trashcans, cleaning and monitoring sidewalks, parking areas, fuel dispensers, and canopy areas, and observing health, regulatory and safety policies and procedures. - 30%
3. Provides accounting of transactions by opening cashier station according to established procedure, ensuring opening drawer cash count is correct and adequate change is available, processing all transactions accurately, closing cashier station according to established procedure, calculating total cash payments received, balancing and reconciling closing drawer with cash sales, preparing cash and credit receipts for deposit, and reporting unresolved discrepancies to the Store Manager. - 20%

Job Specifications:

Education and Experience:

Essential:

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. or equivalent experience
• Current Food Handlers card

Desirable:

• Convenience store experience
• 1 year retail experience

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

• Ability to interact effectively with customers and co-workers
• Ability to stand and walk for up to eight hours at a time
• Ability to count U.S currency and make change
• Ability to appear for work on time

• Ability to work variable work schedule to include nights, weekends and holidays
